General Information

Astro Ltd. is an international non-commercial organization, established in , operating solely for the purpose of:

  • owning copyrights to scientific titles in the area of laser physics research and applications;
  • providing editorial services to international scientific journals;
  • sponsoring and organizing international scientific conferences.

Astro Ltd. owns and operates the International Laser Physics Portal.

International Laser Physics Portal was set up in to be available for the world laser physics science community. It was originally designed to integrate and provide necessary information related to two international journals Laser Physics and Laser Physics Letters and the annual International Laser Physics Workshop (LPHYS').

Since article submission to both journals became available on this portal. The portal allows the contributing authors to find all pertinent information about their papers submitted to both journals.

In its present version, the portal visitor is now able to:
  • obtain information about the past, current and future workshops,
  • set up a Workshop Participant's Personal page,
  • register as a participant to a current workshop,
  • pay registration fee using one of the provided options, i.e. international money transfer system PayPal, bank wire transfer, etc.,
  • book a hotel,
  • order an entry visa to the host country, if needed,
  • view a list of all registered participants.

Astro Ltd. owns copyrights to and is a co-publisher of two international journals:

Laser Physics (ISSN print: 1054-660X, ISSN electronic: 1555-6611)

is an international journal published in cooperation with various organizations involved in laser research and development. The renowned Russian laser physicist and the winner of the 1964 Nobel Prize in physics, Professor Alexander M. Prokhorov, was the first Editor-in-Chief of the journal from its founding in up to . The journal offers a comprehensive view of theoretical and experimental laser research and applications by leading authors worldwide. The articles cover every aspect of modern laser physics and quantum electronics, emphasizing the physical phenomena in various media (solid, gaseous, liquid), and leading to the generation of laser radiation, peculiarities in propagation of laser radiation, problems involving impact of laser radiation on various substances and the emerging physical effects (including coherent phenomena), the use of lasers in various applications including laser spectroscopy, the processing and storage of information, biophotonics, etc.
The following topics receive particular attention:
  • Physics of Lasers
  • Fiber Optics and Fiber Lasers
  • Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Science
  • Ultrafast Optics and Strong-Field Physics
  • Nonlinear Optics
  • Physics of Cold Trapped Atoms
  • Laser Methods in Chemistry, Biology, Medicine and Ecology
  • Laser Spectroscopy
  • Novel Laser Materials and Lasers
  • Optics of Nanomaterials
  • Interaction of laser radiation with matter
  • Laser Interaction with Solids
  • Photonics

An important part of the journal is devoted to reviews, supplemented by biographical briefs of the authors. In addition to the original papers and reviews, the journal publishes tutorials from time to time that are very useful for students and young scientists. This journal is a valuable resource for scholars and scientists, industrial labs and university libraries. Rapid publication, distribution, and release of Laser Physics guarantee a well-timed delivery of the cutting-edge research information and current news in the field.

Astro Ltd. is an organizer and permanent sponsor of the annual science conference

International Laser Physics Workshop (LPHYS')

is an annual forum of world leading researchers in the field of laser physics and applications held in different countries of the world. It was established in following the joint initiative of a group of leading laser scientists in the former Soviet Union under the leadership of Alexander M Prokhorov, a renowned scientist in laser researcher and 1964 Nobel Prize Winner in physics.

The main idea behind the group's undertaking was to establish an annual forum for the exchange of scientific results achieved in various areas of laser research over the preceding year. Among some anticipated results of such closely held gatherings were setting up and getting underway of many new research projects in promising directions worldwide in both theoretical and applied areas. Launching of many research groups of common interest across national borders was one of the main original purposes of the Workshop.

As a result of many years of running this international forum, a worldwide community of participants has been created. Over those years since , thousands of scholars, scientists, research administrators and students from 82 countries representing 1760 institutions and organizations have attended the conference.

On the map below you can find more detailed information on all Workshops.
